The Nokia Mission-Safe Phone is stated to be a purpose-built defence smartphone designed specifically for resilience, security, and high performance.
Developed in Europe with a long-lifecycle chipset from Qualcomm, this device is engineered to integrate with new features, applications, and accessories for range of customer needs and preferences.
The Mission-Safe Phone is validated on Nokia’s Banshee portfolio of 4G and 5G tactical communications solutions.
It delivers military-grade durability and supports high-bandwidth applications vital for multimedia and data-intensive operations.
Available in three variants, each model is tailored to meet specific mission requirements and operational demands.
All versions are MIL-Standard 810H and IP68 certified, ensuring their resilience, reliability, and readiness for any mission scenario, stated Nokia.
The upgraded Banshee 5G Tactical Radio offers higher bandwidth, faster speeds, and reduced latency.
The portable radio is designed for rapid deployment, strong security measures, and easy transportation.
With its advanced features, the Banshee 5G Tactical Radio empowers defence teams to establish a potent tactical network on-demand, facilitating instant coordination, swift data sharing, and improved situational awareness on the field.
These products are showcased at this year’s DSEI UK, which is taking place from 9 to 12 September.
Nokia Space and Defense head Giuseppe Targia said: “By harnessing the power of 5G and edge computing, Nokia is accelerating the digital transformation of battlespace. This launch marks a step toward unified battlefield communications. With the Nokia Mission-Safe Phone and the Nokia Banshee 5G Tactical radio, we’re enabling next-generation connectivity and resilience. And with our fully integrated tactical communications ecosystem, we are uniquely positioned to meet the complete end-to-end needs of modern defence operations.”
In May 2025, Nokia signed a memorandum of understanding with Blackned, majority-owned by Rheinmetall, for the development of advanced deployable tactical networks for use by the German defence forces.
