CACI wins contracts for Phase II of Canada CUAS UOR project
The Canadian Government has granted CACI – Federal business two contracts with a cumulative value of C$169.19m ($123.61m) for Phase II of the counter uncrewed aircraft system (CUAS) urgent operational requirement (UOR) project.
The capability is intended to support members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) deployed in Operation Reassurance.
Operation Reassurance is CAF’s overseas mission, through which it supports Nato deterrence and defence measures in Central and Eastern Europe.
The contracts, awarded on 7 July 2025, encompasses both the installation of the CUAS onto a new light armoured tactical vehicle platform and the provision of up to ten years’ worth of in-service support for these systems.
The CUAS is designed to protect CAF members from smaller adversarial uncrewed aircraft by enabling detection, identification, tracking, and neutralisation through vehicles equipped with integrated sensors and effectors.
Canadian National Defence Minister David McGuinty said: “Canada is building a well-equipped military that can operate safely and effectively to protect its national interests. The Counter Uncrewed Aircraft System capability will support the Canadian Armed Forces operations in an increasingly complex and evolving battlespace. This advanced system will also enhance Canada’s contribution to Nato’s deterrence and defence initiatives in Central and Eastern Europe.”
As part of Canada’s Industrial and Technological Benefits policy, CACI – Federal is committed to engaging in business activities within Canada equivalent to the contract values.
The economic input from CACI – Federal could potentially inject C$33m annually into Canada’s GDP and sustain or create 270 jobs within the country.
In January 2024, the Canadian government awarded contracts for Phase I concerning the procurement and in-service support of dismounted and fixed-site CUAS.
The initial consignments of all three systems arrived for evaluation and training purposes in autumn 2024.
The delivery schedule anticipates the arrival of the first fully mounted and integrated CUAS units by autumn 2026.
The CAF expects to achieve full operational capability with these systems by early 2028.
