Cubic wins UK ILT-A award

The UK Ministry of Defence (UK MoD) has awarded an exclusive two-year contract to Cubic Defence UK for the provision of the Instrumented Live Training – Area Weapons Effects System (ILT-A).

This new agreement continues Cubic’s longstanding relationship with the UK MoD, which spans more than 20 years, and serves as a successor to the former Area Weapons Effects Simulation (AWES) contract.

It will continue “to deliver vital support to the British Army”.

The ILT-A system is designed to enhance military training by combining advanced laser and area-effects technology with fully instrumented live-fire range systems and Remotely Piloted Air Systems (RPAS).

This integration results in a digital training environment that simulates multi-spectrum, multi-domain threats.

UK Ministry of Defence Synthetic Environments & Training, Defence Equipment and Support Simon Pearce said: “The integration of Cubic’s Instrumented Metricized Live Fire capability and RPAS reflects the evolving character of combat and ensures the British Army can train with agility and precision.”

Moreover, the system is compatible with Cubic’s SCOPIC2 Virtual-in-Live synthetic environment, facilitating extensive force training exercises and promoting interoperability with allied nations.

The ILT-A system is capable of collecting data during training exercises, which is then used to improve the after action review process.

The scope of the contract includes options that extend support for both the UK MoD and international allies, covering individual and collective training across various domains and levels, ranging from Section to Brigade.

Additionally, the contract encompasses a life-extension program that will extend through the end of this decade, along with investments in experimentation aimed at advancing the UK MoD’s Force Development initiatives.

Cubic Defense vice president and general manager Alicia Combs said: “Cubic is honoured to continue our long-standing partnership with the UK MoD. This award reflects the trust placed in our systems to prepare warfighters for the complexities of modern combat. With ILT-A, we are proud to deliver a high-fidelity, globally interoperable solution that supports the British Army’s evolving training needs.”
