SignalGeneriX Wins Innovation Award for Advancements in Autonomous Defence Technology
SignalGeneriX, a digital signal processing and communications technology company, has won the Innovation award in Autonomous Technology category in the 2025 Army Technology Excellence Awards for its commitment to delivering autonomous solutions designed to meet the operational demands of modern defense environments.
The Army Technology Excellence Awards honor the most significant achievements and innovations in the defense industry. Powered by GlobalData’s business intelligence, the Awards recognize the people and companies leading change and shaping the future of the industry.
SignalGeneriX won the award for developing the LOTUS AI Mission Computer, which is a compact, high-performance artificial intelligence (AI) Edge mission computer that addresses the evolving operational needs of modern defense environments.
The product has been developed in the framework of the LOTUS EDIDP project that has received funding from the European Union’s European Defence Industrial Development Programme under Grant Agreement EDIDP-ISR-TRPAS-2019-030
Embedded AI enhances defense operations

The LOTUS AI Mission Computer distinguishes itself through the integration of advanced embedded AI and edge computing capabilities within a highly compact and ruggedized unit. By leveraging the NVIDIA Jetson Orin NX and Jetson Orin Nano modules, the system achieves up to 100 TOPS of GPU performance, supporting complex machine learning and computer vision tasks directly at the edge. This allows for real-time processing of data from multiple sources, which is critical in mission-critical scenarios where latency and reliability are paramount. For example, in ISR (Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance) missions, the LOTUS platform can process high-resolution video feeds, perform object detection and classification, and conduct target tracking and threat analysis—all without reliance on remote data centers.
This capability not only improves situational awareness for operators but also enhances decision-making speed and accuracy in dynamic operational environments. The system’s embedded AI is further optimized for signal processing, enabling advanced analytics for electronic warfare and other data-intensive defense applications.
Versatile integration for mission-critical applications

The LOTUS AI Mission Computer is engineered for versatility, supporting a broad spectrum of defense platforms and operational requirements. Its ultra-small form factor (measuring just 102mm x 90mm x 26mm without enclosure) and lightweight design (130g without enclosure) make it suitable for deployment in space-constrained environments such as unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), ground vehicles, naval vessels, and robotics. The platform’s extensive I/O connectivity—featuring more than 20 sensor interfaces, including Ethernet, HDMI, USB, UART, RS485/422, GPIOs, CAN bus, and camera interfaces—enables seamless integration with a wide array of sensors and subsystems. This multi-sensor integration capability is essential for platforms that require simultaneous data collection and fusion from diverse sources, such as radar, cameras, and communication systems.
The LOTUS system’s low power consumption, configurable between 7W and 25W, allows it to operate efficiently on platforms with limited power budgets. Additionally, the support for both passive and active cooling configurations ensures reliable performance across different operational scenarios, from high-mobility ground vehicles to stationary surveillance installations. These features collectively enable defense organizations to deploy the LOTUS AI Mission Computer in a variety of mission profiles, including electronic warfare, robotics, and autonomous vehicle operations.
Customizable and reliable performance in extreme conditions

Adaptability and reliability are central to the LOTUS AI Mission Computer’s design, addressing the diverse and often harsh conditions encountered in defense operations. The system offers customizable enclosures that can be tailored to specific client requirements, ensuring optimal fit and protection for different deployment environments—whether airborne, ground-based, or maritime.

The platform is built to withstand extreme temperatures, with an operational range from -40°C to +80°C, making it suitable for missions in both arctic and desert conditions. Its robust construction and flexible cooling options (fan or fanless passive cooling) further enhance durability and operational longevity. The LOTUS system’s ability to maintain high performance under such demanding conditions is critical for mission assurance, particularly in scenarios where equipment failure is not an option.
Furthermore, the platform’s support for GNSS synchronization and a wide operating voltage range (17V–34V DC) adds to its operational flexibility. By offering customizable configurations and maintaining reliable performance in extreme environments, the LOTUS AI Mission Computer addresses the stringent requirements of defense clients and supports a wide range of mission-critical applications.

“At SignalGeneriX, we place great emphasis on developing embedded systems that provide real-time onboard intelligence to modern autonomous platforms. Our AI Edge Computer, developed within the framework of the LOTUS EDIDP project, is a prime example of a European defence industry dual-use product with a wide range of both defence and civilian applications.”
