EOS will deliver an upgraded R400 RWS, specifically designed to integrate with the AS21 Redback IFV and aligned with the operational requirements of the Australian Army.

Manufacturing will take place at EOS’ Canberra facility, utilising a national supply chain that involves more than 100 Australian companies.

The company’s RWS technology is in operational use with armed forces across Australia, North America, Europe, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.

EOS has sold more than 2,500 weapon systems globally, of which more than 700 have been delivered or contracted for delivery to the Australian Army.

EOS CEO Dr Andreas Schwer said: “This contract is a win for Australian industry, and we are delighted to be working with Hanwha Defence Australia on this critical project for Army.

“The work will be carried out here in Australia, supporting skilled jobs, strengthening our sovereign defence manufacturing base, and showcasing the capabilities of local suppliers on a national program of strategic importance.”

The LAND 400 Phase 3 Project was formalised in December 2023 by the Commonwealth and HDA, the prime contractor.

As part of the programme, HDA is set to deliver 129 Redback IFVs to the Australian Army under a contract worth around A$4bn.

All vehicles are scheduled for production within Australia, with deliveries commencing in 2027 and completion expected by 2028. HDA will also provide training and sustainment measures, covering spares, and ongoing support through to final acceptance in 2029.
